After having to hold the annual Culture Days event virtually last year the City of Weyburn and the Weyburn Arts Council are getting excited to be able to hold the event in person this year.

With the provincial restrictions set to be lifted on July 11, there will be many more options available for this year's event that will be running from September 24 until October 24.

"The in-person part of the event will be taking place September 24th, 25th, and 26th here in Weyburn," told Regan Lanning, Curator for the City of Weyburn and the Weyburn Arts Council. "This year we are hosting a hybrid event. So if you are comfortable taking part in an in-person event we can do that and if you are more comfortable doing an online event we can certainly facilitate that sort of involvement."

Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country.

Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.

Culture Days was initiated in 2010 by the Canadian Arts Summit and this will be the 11th year that the event has been held in Weyburn.

The Weyburn Arts Council are currently seeking more people to join in the celebration of multiculturism and anyone interested can send an email to weyburnartscouncil@weyburn.ca

There have already been a few confirmed exhibits that people will be able to visit in the fall.

On September 24 and 25 there will be the City of Weyburn's Permanent Collection on display at the new Credit Union Spark Centre that features art pieces from over 100 national and provincially acclaimed artists.

There will also be a Woodcarving Demonstration happening at the Spark Centre on Saturday, September 25 where members of the Weyburn Wood Carvers Club will be demonstrating techniques used in woodcarving.

Also taking place that day the Weyburn Arts Council is hosting a large mural creation event. The finished mural will be installed in the downtown core for future generations to enjoy. This is an all-ages event geared towards all skill levels.

As well the Weyburn Library will be sharing Canadian Origin Stories on Sunday, September 26 for an afternoon reception, where viewers are invited to share their Canadian Origin story. Stories can be shared in person or submitted in advance and can be anonymous. This event will be live-streamed on the Weyburn Arts Council's Facebook page.

With all of the various options in place, this year's Culture Days event is sure to be a good time for everyone in attendance physically and virtually.
