Cooperation between law enforcement in Estevan and Weyburn resulted in the arrest of a 57-year-old Estevan resident, who was accused of theft in Weyburn.

He was taken into custody in the Energy City at his residence through communication between Estevan and Weyburn police services.

"This is something that we do quite often, receiving information from another service. Our members were able to locate and arrest the party responsible, so once again it's good communication between multiple jurisdictions," said Police Chief Paul Ladouceur.

"It's improved over the years. Police services, with technology and so forth, can communicate rapidly with one another providing descriptions and essential information through the computer NRS systems among agencies to locate and arrest criminals."

"It was a good end. Weyburn was appreciative and I know that they would do the same for us," he added.

The male was charged with theft under $5,000, released with conditions, and will appear in Weyburn court.
