A one-year extension for 7 G.B. Enterprises to complete phases two and three on the Douglas Heights subdivision on South Hill was approved by city council Monday night at their regular meeting.

Phases two and three were to be completed in September of this year, however, phase one was just finishing up at that time. Now, 7 G.B. has requested an extension to September 30, 2019 for the final two phases of development, which include a site for 22 townhouses, a 140 unit condo or care home, and more residential lots.

City Manager Mathew Warren said during the meeting that provisions will be made on the new service agreement with the company.

"One - that the developer and its consultants are to provide progress reports monthly to the City of Weyburn, and number two is no securities will be released or reduced until the full completion of all three phases have occurred and been approved," said Warren.

Councillor Jeff Chessall inquired if there would be any consequences if they did not provide the monthly reports to which Warren responded that the company did not provide the requested progress reports requested after their last extension. Councillor Mel VanBetew suggested the new service agreement require the reports or deal with the possibility of losing the extension and council agreed to include the stipulation.

So far, two completed houses stand in the Douglas Heights subdivision along with 18 serviced lots, paved roads, sidewalks and curbs.
