Weyburn city council was abuzz last night.

Some of the hot topics at city council included a public hearing for the Development Levy Bylaw. Two citizens spoke on concerns regarding the bylaw causing lots of debate amongst councillors. Although the bylaw was thought to be passed at last night's meeting it was decided to table the bylaw to allow further clarifications and readings.

Weyburn passed the Snowmobile Bylaw that was visited last week. Council made the suggested changes after working with both the Souris River Snowmobile Club and the Weyburn Police Service.

The Weyburn city council agreed to give the bid of fuel and fluid for the City to the Weyburn Prairie Sky Cooperative.

Council released a Council Procedures Bylaw for first reading so citizens have more knowledge on council proceedings. Weyburn city council changed procedures back in early September to hold in-camera sessions. The changes are aimed at providing more transparency and openness within the council.

Water projects were updated as well last night. The water treatment plant modifications are progressing and are only two weeks off schedule. The water meter replacement program is about a quarter of the way done with one thousand meters already in place. The lead pipe program is completed with success and will see the vendor return in spring to fix any issues.

The Weyburn Golf Club made a request for funding from the City. Council tabled the issue for further review and discussion.
