It is an often-enough occurrence the Canada Border Services Agency launched an awareness campaign about it earlier this year. Undeclared firearms being brought into Canada by travellers coming to the country from the United States.

To help spread the message, the CBSA launched the Leave Your Guns At Home awareness campaign. For one traveller who was coming to Canada on June 2nd, he may not have heard about it.

The man was travelling through Canada to Alaska and entering at the North Portal crossing. During the search, the CBSA officers found an undeclared .22 calibre handgun in a cargo trailer.

As a result, the man was arrested and had to pay a $1,000 penalty. He was then returned to the United States.

The CBSA has been working to urge Americans coming to Canada to leave firearms at home, as it is illegal to bring undeclared firearms into Canada, and the rules concerning firearms are very different between the two countries.
