One of the men facing charges related to the home invasion and homicide in Weyburn on January 4 entered a plea in court today.

Released from custody since his last court appearance, 23-year-old Dominick Kirk Hawkes entered a not guilty plea in Weyburn Provincial Court. He was represented by Kim Stinson, Regina Rural Legal Aid.

Hawkes is facing charges of break and enter and committing assault, wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, possession of a firearm without a licence, and possession of cocaine.

A date was set for his preliminary hearing on November 5 in Weyburn.

Hawkes charges stem from a home invasion and homicide investigation on January 4, in which Hawkes, William McLeod, and Nathan Hutt allegedly broke in to Kegan Muxlow's house on Fourth Street NE. Hutt died after an alleged altercation during the incident. Muxlow is facing second-degree murder charges and attempted murder charges stemming from that night.
