Highway 39 has been blocked by a serious, two-vehicle accident three kilometers northwest of Weyburn, according to the Weyburn RCMP. The release from the RCMP was issued at 8:40 p.m. There is no word on injuries at this time, however, STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched to the Weyburn area at the time of the accident.

There is no official detour established at this time. Traffic is rerouting itself onto area grid roads, with civilians assisting when heading northwest out of Weyburn. The RCMP is recommending motorists use Highway 13 westbound, and Highway 35 northbound to avoid the area of the accident.

The scene of the accident is close to where a fatal accident occurred in February of 2016, between the two grain terminals along Highway 39 just outside the city.

There is no estimate at this time of when the highway will be re-opened. We will continue to bring you more information as it becomes available.
