The Terry Fox Foundation was founded in 1988 and has raised over $650 million for cancer research. Every year people around the world take part in Terry Fox Runs to continue to raise money for cancer research. The annual runs are important in remembering Terry Fox and giving funds to a very important cause.

"The Terry Fox run in our communities and our schools is our bread and butter and that's how we raise money for cancer research," says Heather MacKenzie Provincial Director for Manitoba and Saskatchewan of the Terry Fox Foundation. "Terry showed us that the impossible is possible and he reminded us that we can make a difference in the world and change people's lives for the better."

Although Terry Fox passed away in 1981 he still remains an inspiration to many and helps to raise money for a worthy cause.

"If you want to give to cancer research, the Terry Fox Foundation has the highest ratio of money going to cancer research in the nation, so 85 cents to the dollar goes straight the Terry Fox Research Institute and we're making differences in lives of people today," says MacKenzie.

In 2007, the Terry Fox Foundation created the Terry Fox Institute to further help with research and cancer patient understanding. Terry Fox Runs are held annually in communities big and small as well as in schools. To learn more or to make a donation click here.
