Logan Patrick's painting 'The Beatles' received the second place award.The Allie Griffin Art Gallery at the Weyburn Public Library was filled with people, and art, Thursday night, as the annual James Weir People’s Choice Award was presented. There were 37 pieces from 38 artists on display. Of the submissions, 14 were from first-time entrants into the competitions. Overall, it is believed to be the most entries for the James Weir award in its 34-year history.

Jaren Bell, who’s untitled piece resembled a guitar, while showing a transition of colour and imagery from a sunset at the beach to the nightlife of the city, was the winner. This is Bell’s second time receiving the award in the past three years.

Lauren Daae's 'A Deer In The Mist' received the third place award. In second, Logan Patrick, a first-time entrant. His piece was a painting of The Beatles. Another first-time entrant, Lauren Daae, was third. Her entry was a digital creation call  A Deer In The Mist.

There were a number of honourable mentions as well. They included Christopher Borshowa, Heather Van Der Breggen, Elisa Fawcett, and Carly Istace.
