Telemiracle 42 surpassed previous records, earning $7,151,256 Sunday at the conclusion of the 20-hour telethon. This was in part due to a bequest of $1.2 million dollars made by Lucien Wayne Jacobs, a Weyburn-born man who farmed near Trossachs until his death in 2014 from a farming accident at the age of 76.

Jacob's three children presented the large donation on their father's behalf on the Telemiracle stage Saturday evening. This was the third largest donation to the telethon in its 42-year history.

Telemiracle 42 also received the largest legacy gift in the history of the Kinsmen Foundation. The bequest was presented Sunday morning on stage. Longtime Saskatoon resident, P.O.W. City Kinsmen member, and U of S swine researcher Dr. Phil Thacker left Telemiracle $1,532,792.75. The gift was presented by relatives of Thacker and members of the P.O.W City Kinsmen.

Local performers who hit the stage during Telemiracle 42 included Weyburn's Richy Roy, Maraya Parisien and Spirit of Grace. There was also a special guest appearance by Telemiracle favourite Bob McGrath.

The Weyburn Kinsmen and Kinettes raised over $5,000 for Telelmiracle during their annual poker tournament in February and a paint night.

Telemiracle is an annual telethon organized by the Kinsmen and Kinettes for the benefit of the Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation, which assists people with special needs in the province.
