The Weyburn Police Report has been released for September 18-22.

It is the case that for another week, Weyburn residents are reminded to lock your vehicles when leaving them for any length of time.

"We have a significant issue with Weyburn with thefts of vehicles with thefts left in them," said Inspector Rod Stafford, Weyburn Police Service.

A number of vehicles were stolen from this past week.

"To my knowledge, we have never had a single issue in the last number of years in Weyburn where somebody has actually broken a window or broken into a vehicle to get into steal minor property like that. These are very much, crimes of opportunity. If a vehicle is locked, they simply check the door handle and if it doesn't open they walk down the street to find the next easy target of opportunity. We continually urge people to lock their vehicles," said Inspector Rod Stafford.

He went on to say how Vehicles are not broken into by smashed windows or hotwired. That is just a myth and misconception.

The Weyburn Police Service would also like to remind residents that telephone scams such as threatening calls from the CRA demanding payment are not legitimately from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Inspector Stafford said that they contacted the CRA who said they do not contact people over the phone like that.
