A Weyburn man facing charges in connection with the home invasion and homicide in the city on January 4th made a court appearance in Weyburn Provincial Court today.

William McLeod, 25, was expected to enter a plea when he appears in the courtroom. Instead, his case was held over until March 26th. His attorney appeared by phone, and McLeod was in the courtroom itself.

McLeod is charged with break and enter and committing assault, wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, and possession of a firearm without a license.

The charges stem from the January 4th incident. It is alleged McLeod, along with 23-year-old Dominick Hawkes and 18-year-old Nathan Hutt, broke into the home of Kegan Muxlow. During the incident, Hutt was allegedly shot, then taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Muxlow is charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to be back in Weyburn Provincial Court on April 23rd.

Hawkes pled not guilty to charges of break and enter and committing assault, wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, possession of a firearm without a licence, and possession of cocaine in Weyburn Provincial Court on March 5th. His preliminary hearing is set to start on November 5th.

Three women also face charges in connection with the incident. Emily Bedore, aged 18, Rebecca Larson, aged 19, and 21-year-old Chevonne Olson are charged with obstruction of justice, accessory after the fact and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The homicide on January 4th was the first homicide in Weyburn in more than 20 years.
