There may be a new agricultural hub coming to the Weyburn area.

Comtrax Logistics Solutions Inc. is a locally grown idea for a commodity hub that would provide many services and opportunities to the area. A public meeting was held in Weyburn Friday to share information about the proposed rail and grain terminal hub along with guest Kevin Hursh who spoke on the history and importance of farmer owned facilities in Saskatchewan.

If built, the Comtrax facility would be in the Weyburn area. Mark Bratrud, spokesperson for Comtrax, said they were leaning towards finding area between Midale and Weyburn.

The concept is to have a system owned and operated by farmers.

The proposed $50-$75 million commodity hub project would provide transportation, for products such as grain, crude oil, aggreates, and many other products. The hub would include a loop rail track with a 260 car capacity and facility capable of handling up to 60,000-tonnes.
