A new logo has been designed for the Weyburn Communithon.

“The Weyburn Communithon is so important to the community and we're so excited about the event, we wanted some fresh new ideas, so we decided to do a logo contest,” said Communithon Communications Committee Member, Sabrina Kraft. “We received lots of great submissions from the community.”

She said Brad Istace submitted a design that had many great elements, with which they incorporated another element from a design submitted Kraft herself. Istace, incidentally, also won the logo contest for the Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park.

“We'll be using this brand new logo on our new website, Facebook page, posters, advertising and media releases as we start moving toward Communithon,” said Kraft. “Among the submissions from the community for our logo, we loved a poster design that was inspired by Gracen Kopec. So those posters will be hitting the streets of Weyburn pretty soon to promote Communithon.”

The theme this year is ‘a Blast to the Past’ for this year's event, partly due to the venue moving back to the Royal Canadian Legion.

Kraft noted there are even more opportunities for local artists to contribute.

“We're actually doing another poster contest where we're asking other artists from the community to create their own Communithon posters, focused on that blast from the past theme” she explained. “School teachers are quite familiar, we used to do this poster contest with the schools, but we're opening it to anybody in the community and we're just encouraging any posters with that blast from the past theme.”

Poster submissions can be sent to communithoncommittee@sasktel.net

The event takes place October 25th at the Royal Canadian Legion.

The new logo includes design elements from Brad Istace and Sabrina Kraft.
