Several improvements to the highways between Regina and Estevan are expected over the next five years. This includes twinning some sections of highway and constructing 16 sets of passing lanes.

"Well, we already started this year. There's two new sets of passing lanes that are open on Highway 6, between Corinne and Regina and the remainder of the work will occur over the next few years and we expect everything to done by the end of the 2024 construction season," explained Executive Director of Communications for the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure Doug Wakabayashi.

He said short sections of highway will also be twinned, such as the junctions between Highway 6 and 39, Highway 6 leaving Regina, and Highway 39 leaving Weyburn.

Wakabayashi said other areas of the province where passing lanes were built, such as Highway 10 by Balgonie, have noticed a reduction in traffic accidents.
