Weyburn's Calvary Baptist Church has a new Lead Pastor.

A special service is happening on Sunday at 2 pm, at the Baptist church building on 1st Avenue

"We're calling it a commissioning service, its the churches way of officially calling me here," said Pastor Tim McKinnon, the new Lead Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. He replaces Pastor Doug Loden who retired earlier in the year.

Pastor Mackinnon and his family moved from Moncton, New Brunswick.

"The biggest similarity is that people are people. Especially today there are people from all over Canada. People are traveling from east to west more than ever before, said MacKinnon when asked, what are the similarities and differences in Weyburn compared to living in the Maritimes.

In reference to the differences, he explained about the closeness of the ocean when he pastored in Nova Scotia.

Pastor MacKinnon has been in ministry for 22 years. McKinnon started in Youth Ministry before he moved into pastoral ministry.

The Church is hoping to expand in all ages with Pastor MacKinnon's help who is hoping to expand their small group ministry.

The MacKinnon's have already started a new youth group for the church, which meets on Friday evenings.
