In a memo released to Sun Country Health Region staff, the date for the new Saskatchewan Health Authority has been announced as December 4th, 2017.

According to the memo, obtained by Discover Weyburn, on that date, The Provincial Health Authority Act will be proclaimed and the 12 Regional Health Authorities will legally transition to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, including employees and operations.

"Moving to a single provincial health authority is a significant change for our health system and requires a comprehensive implementation plan. An essential part of that plan includes having a launch date to work towards and we are on track to meet late fall goal for beginning operations."

The memo says that the organisational structure has been established for the senior leadership team of the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

"The recruitment process for these senior positions will soon be underway, with job opportunities to be posted over the next several weeks."

In another memo also obtained by Discover Weyburn, John Knoch Acting President/CEO, Sun Country Health Region, states that he will "continue to lead the day to day operations of Sun Country Health Region until the Saskatchewan Health Authority officially launches."

A new logo has been developed for the new health authority and is being revealed as part of the announcement.
