This past weekend was quite warm in Saskatchewan, with temperatures reaching 36.2 degrees in Weyburn on Sunday.

Many locals and visitors chose to cool down at Weyburn's Nickle Lake.

A four year old named Gemma found a shaded spot on the beach to be creative.

"I'm building sandcastles in the shade," said Gemma.

Kelton decided to be creative as well.

"I'm practicing my art underneath the trees," said Kelton.

Claire from Vancouver managed to enjoy the heat without being directly in the sun.

"I'm doing nothing, absolutely nothing," said Claire. "It's too hot to do anything. I'm just sitting beside the lake here, watching people, drinking lots of water and really enjoying myself."

Windy is a professional photographer from out of town.

"Well I'm out with my camera today," said Windy. "I'm just walking around while staying out of the sun and looking for different things to photograph."

When the weather is this warm out it is important to stay hydrated and to limit the amount of time you spend in the sun.

To reduce your risk for developing heat related illnesses on hot days it is imperative to not only drink water, but to also drink beverages that include electrolytes.

An electrolyte is a substance that produces an electrically conducting solution when dissolved in water. Electrolytes carry a charge and are essential for life. All higher forms of life need electrolytes to survive.

In our bodies, electrolytes include sodium, potassium, calcium, bicarbonate, magnesium, chloride and hydrogen phosphate.

It is supposed to be quite hot on Thursday this week, however most of the week appears to be a slight bit cooler than this past weekend.
