The new accessible swing at Elks park was opened this morning.

The swing completes the accessible play structure which was opened in August 2016.

The previous play structure was burned down in October 2013.

“It is a playground that is built to include children with special needs so that everyone has a chance to play together. This park is one of many reasons I am proud to call Weyburn home,” said City Councillor Winston Bailey.

Funding for the swing came from the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF), Community Places and Spaces Program. It was a 50/50 cost-share between City of Weyburn and CIF.

Blue Imp Playgrounds installed the accessible swing and also the rest of the play structure last year.

The park is open to the public.

An accessible picnic table is being added later in the week to Elks Park.

Jubilee park and Riverside park are both receiving two new accessible picnic tables later in the week
