Those who believe they make the best pie in town may want to enter a pie-baking contest being held on January 23. Weyburn's Harvest Pie Company is hosting the event in celebration of International Pie Day.

The Harvest Pie Company is run by the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop to support individuals with intellectual disabilities. Executive Director Andria Brady said the event is free, but there are some parameters to note.

“This is totally free, and the only thing we ask is that all the registrations get in by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January the 18th, so we that we know how many numbers we’re dealing with and can prepare our judges accordingly,” she said.

She said there will be a panel of local celebrity judges.

“Your pie needs to be dropped off to us by noon on Wednesday, January 23rd,” said Brady. “It needs to be baked or in a ready-to-eat state, but not sliced, as we also want to judge on presentation as well as taste.”

She added the public is welcome to attend for free to sample the pies after the competition.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23 at Harvest Pie Company on Ebel Road.
