The Weyburn Police Service is investigating an armed robbery from the weekend. On Saturday night around 9:15, a call came in about an armed robbery at the Wholesale Gas Bar.

Police have reported that it appears the two suspects walked to the gas bar from the area of Peavey Mart on Government Road. One of the suspects brandished what appeared to be a handgun. No one was physically injured in the incident, and a small amount of cash is reported to have been taken. The suspects then fled the store on foot.

The first suspect is described as a Caucasian man, standing between 5’2” and 5’5” with a medium build. They are said to be wearing a light grey hoodie, dark sunglasses and had his face covered. The second suspect is said to be a man standing between 5’2” and 5’5”, a medium build as well, and wearing a black hoodie.

Police said the chances are likely the gun was either a fake or, if it is real, it was probably stolen.

"It's not impossible, but it would be very odd and extremely rare that somebody would have legitimate ownership of that weapon and then turn around and use it in an armed robbery," said Deputy Chief Rod Stafford. "It would be very, very odd for the legal owner of the handgun to be the one that's involved in the robbery if, in fact, it is a real firearm in the first place."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Weyburn Police Service at 306-848-3250 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
