The Weyburn Police Service is reminding residents, once again, if an online offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

On Sunday, they received a complaint from a Weyburn resident who was trying to sell a vehicle online. The complainant received an offer which was above the asking price. The buyer had a caveat: wire some money to the buyer before they would pay the premium price on the vehicle.

The seller didn’t send any money and contacted police about the fraud attempt.

Police issued another reminder this past week, this time about locking vehicles.

The reminder comes after police were told about some found property. After investigating, it was determined the property had originally been taken from a vehicle which had been parked overnight. There was also a small amount of cash stolen.

Police are reminding residents to not leave vehicles unlocked, and to not leave keys inside the vehicle.
