October 15th is being proclaimed as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day in Weyburn, for the third year in a row.

"It's for anyone who has lost a child in utero or prenatally, and once they have been born," explained Amanda Payne, who originally requested the proclamation for Weyburn in 2015, after she and her husband Nathan, suffered the loss of their son due to pre-term labour.

"It's something that's very close to my heart since I've lost three children in-utero as well. So it's hopefully a way to help other parents deal with similar losses."

The proclamation will be signed at tonight's city council meeting by Mayor Marcel Roy with Amanda in attendance.

In 1988 United States President Ronald Reagan proclaimed October 15th as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.

On Sunday, October 15th, the 'Weyburn Walk to Remember' for 'Pregnancy and Infant Loss' will be taking place at Riverside Park at 2 pm.
