The Weyburn RCMP making a pair of arrests over the long weekend in separate incidents, seizing a quantity of cocaine at the same time.

In one of the instances, the member was on patrol in the rural area, and came upon this vehicle,” explained Sergeant Brian Neilmeyer with the Weyburn RCMP detachment, when talking about the arrest of a 22-year-old man from Edmonton last Thursday. “Of course, from there, that’s where the traffic stop occurred.”

The man is facing a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The second arrest happened on Sunday when police responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle.

“We encourage people to call their local RCMP, or us if it’s in the area if they do see things that seem out of place,” said Sgt. Neilmeyer.

The investigation Sunday resulted in an 18-year-old man being arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both men made an appearance in court earlier this week and will be in Weyburn Provincial Court for their next appearance on November 13th.
