The Rural Municipality of Weyburn discussed the provincial budget at their council meeting this week.

"One of the major impacts on the municipality is the reduction in the municipal revenue sharing pool," explained Carmen Sterling, Reeve for the RM of Weyburn. "So, the entire pool has been reduced, of course, because it lags behind as one percent of the PST from the previous year."

She said they were anticipating tax increases in the RM and so it is positive this didn't occur, however, there were some changes to the way some taxes will be collected on some items.

The reduction in the revenue sharing amounts to over six percent of the previous RM of Weyburn budget.
