Weyburn has been a place to call home for almost a year for three Syrian refugee families.

Due to family and work opportunities in other communities, all three of those families are now getting ready to leave Weyburn.

"They all feel bad about leaving Weyburn," said Doug Loden, a member of the Refugee Committee in Weyburn. "They were treated well here, but because of work opportunities and family connections in other locations, making a move is the best thing for them to do."

The money that was raised for the families will go towards helping them to travel to their new homes and to helping them settle in. The Refugee Committee will be staying in contact with them as well.

"I will keep in touch with these families," added Loden. "I'll see how they're doing and will help them to settle in a bit. As far as other refugee families coming to Weyburn, there aren't any at this point."

Loden said that the families are very grateful for all of the love and support that the people of Weyburn have shown them during their stay in the opportunity city.

This wouldn't have been possible without all of the funding and help from locals.

"A sincere thanks to everyone from Weyburn who has contributed in some way to support these refugee families," Loden said. "There was a very significant support for these families and it has been very much appreciated by them."

One of the families has already moved to Calgary, Alberta. One of the remainding families will be moving to Edmonton, Alberta. Then the last family will shortly be on their way to Hamilton, Ontario.
