The Weyburn Pottery Club is bringing attention to themselves with a fun game of finders seekers that will give a few lucky residents a chance to find and take home a clay creation.

Weyburn Art Curator and pottery club member Regan Lanning said through social media the club shared photos and a message stating George the gnome was leaving his comfortable home on the fourth floor of the Signal Hill Arts Centre and venturing out on his own.

"He decided he was going to wander the mean streets of Weyburn until he was able to find himself a new situation," said Lanning. "He ended up, apparently, at the Weyburn Public Library, hanging out in the back stacks next to Patricia Cornwell's books. He was recently found. He was adopted by local resident Carol Thomas. So, he has a new home."

Lanning said they plan to send out two more gnomes soon and residents should be on the lookout. George's brothers Ollie and Sven will be hiding in public spaces.

"They've been grumbling...that George got to leave and had this big adventure and is moving on in life and they're feeling a little bit left behind," explained Lanning. "Last I saw Ollie was casting about the studio, packing his bags. So, he may be leaving to go out on a big adventure next week."

The game of hide and seek will continue, but not only with gnomes. Lanning said other treasures are being created and offered up by pottery club members over the coming weeks.

The club meets on the fourth floor of the Signal Hill Arts Centre every Monday. Although new members are welcome, Lanning said they must have experience in clay making. There are a few clay classes being offered at the Signal Hill Arts Centre in February. Click HERE for more information.
