Souris School in Weyburn will be closed Thursday.

The announcement came from the South East Cornerstone Public School Division after a case of COVID-19 had been diagnosed at the school.

The decision to close the school was made due to what the SECPSD described as the complexity of the situation, and to allow for time for Public Health to conduct a thorough review. Staff and students at the school are being asked to remain home and to isolate themselves for the day.

In an email to parents, the SECPSD stated parents and guardians, as well as any staff, volunteers or visitors, who were in close contact with the case, will be contacted by public health officials.

More information concerning the next steps to be taken is expected to be sent out during the day Thursday.
