Each year Southeast College give their students an opportunity to apply for scholarships to help cover some of the cost of tuition.

"Last week, we were very excited to give out over $65,000 in entrance scholarships to our full-time post-secondary and university students," explained Sheena Onrait, Communications Manager, Southeast College

"Those were students that are registered in all of our full-time programs and our university programs at all of our campus locations."

Onrait added that the students applied before June 30th and were eligible for entrance awards from Southeast College and that the format changes each year depending on how many people apply.

The first 130 post-secondary students in full-time certificate and diploma programs and 20 university students receive scholarships.

"That can change from year to year so we encourage all interested students to check out the information on our website."

"In addition to the entrance scholarships, we also do our application based scholarships which just opened for our current students on December 1st. That's another additional $200,000 we give away each year."

Southeast College is already preparing for 2018-2019 and making some program changes.

"We are going to be offering the first-year university again on our Weyburn campus. Next year we are also doing our practical nursing program starts again so that's a two-year program in Weyburn. We are also transferring our business administration program from Estevan to Weyburn next year as well."

Onrait is excited about the opportunity for students to receive scholarships from Southeast College.
