Those looking for some history and fun this Victoria Day are in luck. Weyburn's Heritage Village opens for the season today.

The village south of Signal Hill Arts Centre on South Hill features a gathered collection of houses from the turn of the century. It's open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the season.

"We do walk-in tours but we also do scheduled tours so if you're a larger group you can just call ahead of time and schedule a tour with us or you can do a walk-in tour because somebody is always here to give you one," explained Tour Coordinator Jayla Kaip. "You can kind of chose if you want a longer tour or a shorter tour and we'll just take you to all the houses we have and if you book ahead we can also include an ice cream demonstration."

Tour Coordinator Drew Paquette said they are already planning for Heritage Village Days in August.

"It's the most exciting event of the year, I think at least," shared Paquette. "We have entertainment and live demonstrations like butter turning and we have rope making and cattle herding and all this kind of stuff going on. It's really fun actually."

The village is free for children five and under, $2 for children six to 12, $3 for youth 13 to 17, $5 for adults and $3 for seniors. Events during Heritage Village Days, August 10 and 11, are free to the public.
