Trends usually do pop up with young people, and escape rooms are certainly a hot trend these days. While it's easier to find an escape room, temporary or permanent, in the larger centres, some students at Weyburn Comprehensive School have gotten on board with the trend and are bringing it right here to Weyburn. In fact, the event is being organized entirely by the SRC students.

What is an escape room? Generally, participants are locked into a room for a period of time, usually one or two hours, and they have to solve a series of puzzles to earn their freedom.

As part of an ongoing fundraiser for the bond-building annual event, Breaking Down The Walls, the event will take place over five days to accommodate as many people as possible.

“There’s going to be 26 time-slots available for groups of three to 10 people,” said SRC Public Relations Representative Greg Wiens. “If all of the slots are not filled, walk-ins will be accepted.”

He added that the theme is 'Mad Science' and that the participation cost is $10 per person.

The event, which is open to the public, will take place in the Mainil Room at the Comp from October 26 to 30.
