Saturday saw Weyburn's Canadian Tire teaming up with the Weyburn Fire Department partnering up for 'Stuff a Fire Truck.' The event, which was brought to Weyburn by Canadian Tire owners Paul and Lisa Blanchard, sees donations of toys and gifts being donated, the aim to fill the back of a fire truck to the brim.

"Seeing the kids faces that actually delivered the toys was actually pretty cool too," says Kevin Cooke, Weyburn Firefighter. "It was really nice to see that the kids actually donated, the parents would give them the toys and then they would donate it, they would actually put it into the truck for other kids, very impressive."

The toys and gifts were delivered to the Weyburn Family Place today along with a $112 worth of cash donations.

"It's amazing, there's a lot of toys at the Family Place right now and we're really excited to bring smiles to all the kids' faces," says Dawn Gutzke, Executive Director for the Weyburn Family Place.

This is the second 'Stuff a Fire Truck' event in Weyburn. The toys and gifts ensure Weyburn children have gifts to open during the holiday season.

"We have an incredible fire department and we should be really thankful to have them here, I also want to say a really big thank the community," says Lisa Blanchard, one of the owners of Weyburn's Canadian Tire. "There's a lot of talk of shopping locally, and supporting local businesses and because of that we were able to give back $1000 worth of toys and there's so much we can do for the community and all the other businesses can do for the community because people shopping locally."

The Weyburn Family Place will now be dispersing the toys to children in need. This event couldn't have been a success without the generous donations from around the community.
