The Canadian Mental Health Association in Weyburn is offering their Safe TALK training this month.

The workshop trains attendees to become alert to the signs of a possible suicide and get the person access to the help they need. It's based on the TALK steps - Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep safe.

Local CMHA Program Director Tasha Collins said high school students can also take the training.

"It's well and good for adults to be aware but it's very good to have youth that are aware of these signs as well because they are peers," said Collins. "Their peers may be the ones that are struggling and if you're able to talk to someone that's your own age sometimes there's comfort there."

Collins said CMHA has reduced the cost for any student that wants to participate to $35. The cost of the half day workshop on February 23 is $50 for adults.

The deadline to register is February 20. For more information or to register contact the Weyburn CMHA at 306-842-7959.
