The annual Gifted Summer Art Market is coming right up here at the end of the week on Saturday and that means that you will be able to find all sorts of different art pieces.

With 34 different registered vendors, there is sure to be a wide variety of options for visitors to choose from including but certainly not limited to fiber art, jewelry, embroidery, paintings, woodworking, pottery, knitting, quilts, clothing, and much more.

"The Humane Society will be there selling burgers and hot dogs as well as selling raffle tickets," explained Regan Lanning, Curator for the City of Weyburn. "Lowbrow BBQ will be joining us as well we have Balls who is a local creator that makes candied apples. Those will be delicious."

There will also be a number of non-profit groups that will be at the art market including the Weyburn Artistic Swimming Club, the Weyburn Rotary Club, the Weyburn Arts Council, and the Weyburn Humane Society.

"This year we have a ton of artists," Lanning expressed. "We have all sorts of different mediums available. If you can imagine a type of art chances are we'll have it represented at the park on Saturday."

Lanning added that the last time the Arts Council was able to hold an in-person event was approximately two years ago now and said that everyone is looking forward to being able to be a part of this event.

If the weather doesn't cooperate this Saturday they have plans to set up the event inside of the Cugnet Centre which is located at 633 King Street.

"With COVID it's been hard on everyone and it's also been hard on artists," told Lanning. "For a lot of us if we aren't selling we don't have the money to continue making. So it's great to be able to get back together offer our art to the public. It's also great for the emotional well-being of our artists to be able to all get back together again. We feed off of each other's creative energy and we've been kind of in our own studios for this last year."

Lanning shared that one big benefit local artists will receive from this experience is to learn some new skills and ideas to help improve their own artistic creations.

The Gifted Summer Art Market will be happening on Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will be held in Jubilee Park in Weyburn.
