A rainbow flag now flies in the breeze at the Weyburn City Hall for all onlookers to see to mark the beginning of pride week in the city.

Mayor Marcel Roy and Laura Budd, the education coordinator for the Saskatchewan Pride Network, hoisted the rainbow colours of the LGBT flag to begin Weyburn's second annual Pride Week.

There are Pride weeks and marches across Canada, and they give members of the LGBT community and their supporters a chance to openly express their support for the community.

"Regina has been doing it for 28 years and so has Saskatoon. It's time that Weyburn do this acceptance and explain that everybody is everybody," said Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy. "It's all about the acceptance of everybody within our community. All citizens of all walks of life."

There will be a Pride Paint Nite at Browns Social House on Thursday, May 25 and on Saturday, May 27 there will be a pet-friendly pride march starting at City Hall. Pride Paint Nite starts at 7 p.m. and the Pride in the Park, the pride march is from 3 to 5 p.m.
