After a very busy and successful weekend of baseball, Weyburn Minor Ball was shocked to find their trailer broken into.

They are estimating that the thief stole somewhere between $300 and $500 worth of cans and bottles that the group had been collecting for their ongoing fundraiser.

According to Minor Ball, the parents of the U11 AAA Beavers worked very hard over the weekend at the provincial tournament collecting various recyclable items for Weyburn Minor Ball and were blown away after finding out that all of their cans and bottles had been taken away from them.

"All of that money goes back to Weyburn Minor Ball for softball and baseball jerseys, as well as score clocks, and better maintenance of our diamonds," told Britney Fisher, Social Media and Fundraising Coordinator for Weyburn Minor Ball.

Now they are hoping to be able to recuperate their loss as they continue to collect recyclables in hopes to reach their goal of $15,000 over the summer. Before they were robbed their total was under a quarter of their overall goal but that hasn't deterred them from continuing to raise funds.

Some community members have already stepped up to make donations as a way to help offset the group's unfortunate loss this morning and Weyburn Minor Ball will still be collecting cans and bottles throughout the rest of the summer.

"We do have the drop and go at SARCAN where you can go at your own time and just type in WMBA when you are asked where the funds will go as we have an account set up there," explained Fisher. "And all of that money will come back to Weyburn Minor Ball for the kids."

If someone would like to have their recyclable items picked up at their home they can reach out to Britney Fisher at (306) 580-3371 and she will arrange for your items to be picked up.

Weyburn Minor Ball has been quite busy already this year and they have lots more planned for this summer.
