A collision between a train and a car at Queen Street resulted in some traffic inconveniences Monday afternoon. The accident happened shortly after 1:00 p.m., and appeared to involve a sedan heading south off of Queen Street, and a train moving southeast along the CP line that runs adjacent to Highway 39.

The Weyburn Fire Department confirmed the accident was minor, but there was no word on injuries. While train has moved on from the scene, Queen Street was expected to be closed for a period of time afterward, while the scene was analyzed, and the vehicle was removed.

The rail crossing at Queen Street has been the scene of a number of accidents in recent years. It has been identified by Transport Canada as one of the most dangerous crossings in Canada, and there have been calls in the past for crossing to be removed.
