Two candidates, one seat on the council, tied votes. This was the situation in Radville during their municipal elections earlier this week.

Candidates Scott Biss and Raymond Riviere found themselves tied for votes during the election with only one available seat. So how does a municipality deal with a situation like this?

Turns out, they use the tried and true method of picking a name from a hat.

The names of both candidates were printed onto equally sized pieces of paper then placed within a box. Whoever's name was chosen from the box would take up the seat in the council.

Through the literal luck of the draw, Scott Biss was chosen out of the two names and has won the seat on the council for the next term.
