The 43-year-old Regina woman facing human smuggling charges was back in Estevan Provincial court yesterday.

Michelle Omoruyi, who was driving north of the border with nine foreign nationals in her vehicle, was arrested on April 14 and charged with one count of human smuggling and one count of conspiracy to commit human smuggling. Her husband, Victor Omoruyi, was also arrested that day in the US and charged with harboring and transporting an alien. He pleaded guilty as part of an agreement with the prosecution, according to his lawyer.

Michelle Omoruyi was represented by her lawyer via telephone during her first court date on May 15, where the matter was adjourned to June 12.

The matter was further adjourned to July 17 at 9:30 am at Estevan Provincial Court.
