Discover Weyburn has learned from sources close to the matter the appeal by Wade Oberg to be reinstated as the principal at Weyburn Comprehensive School wasn’t successful. He made the appeal at a special meeting of the board of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division Tuesday afternoon.

Oberg was greeted by more than 40 people when he arrived at the school division’s offices. The crowd was made up of parents, teachers, and students, alongside other members of the community, who were there to show support for him.

The meeting started at 1:30 p.m. and the crowd did eventually leave, but six students remained until the end of the meeting.

Just before 4:00 p.m., Oberg left the boardroom with what looked like tears in his eyes, and thanked the students for their support. He was unable to comment at the time.

Lynn Little, the director of education for South East Cornerstone Public, didn’t comment after the meeting either. In an email to Discover Weyburn later in the afternoon, Little said the board would still be in a closed session and would advise the public of the decision when it is made.

Oberg was initially removed as principal of Weyburn Comprehensive School on November 1st. The decision was made at a special meeting of the board on that date and was officially confirmed by the board during their regular meeting on November 22nd. There has been no word from the school division as to why Oberg was removed as principal even after requests made to the School Division Board by Discover Weyburn.

Update:
