Weyburnites are getting a little help from the City to stay cool.

The spray parks opened May long weekend and will stay open until the second week in September. There is a spray park across the street from Haig School in the Don Mitchell Tot Lot and also at River Park. The spray parks feature hand sensors to turn on the water and the water runs until approximately 9 p.m. every day.

The Young Fellows Paddling Pool, between 12 Street and 14 Street on Coteau Avenue, opens Monday, June 19. It will stay open until September 4. Children can also swim at the outdoor pool at the Weyburn Leisure Centre for free on Wednesdays from July 5 till August 30. The outdoor pool opens for the season on Monday, June 12.

The parks in the city have also been spruced up for summer.

"Our crews have been out and planting all of the flowers around the city, including River Park, and also our maintenance work now is up in full swing," said Linda Prokott, parks coordinator. "So we have been out mowing and weed trimming in all of the parks as well."

Just this last Sunday the Opportunity City saw temperatures reach 33 degrees Celsius. Many families were out enjoying the parks.
