Today AM1190, Magic 103, K106 and Discover Weyburn held their annual listener appreciation day.

This year was the biggest one by far, with 700 to 800 people passing through.

There was a petting zoo with many animals, toy cars for the kids to ride, a bubble blowing station, games and crafts for kids, free hot dogs and beverages, two big cakes to celebrate Weyburn's recent titles as the fifth best city in Canada and number one in the prairies, two fire trucks on display, members of the Red Wings and the Beavers and of course a live performance by Weyburn's Tenille Arts.

"This year because of the recent news that Weyburn was named the top community to live in on the prairies, this year we want to have our listener appreciation barbecue in conjunction with the celebration we're planning for downtown Weyburn," said Cam Birnie, Golden West radio station manager. "I think that's fantastic news. I think we take our community for granted, so I just want everybody to come on down to downtown Weyburn and enjoy our celebration."

The day truly highlighted Weyburn's best qualities with people working together, mingling with one another and ultimately having a good time.

The food was free for anyone to enjoy but there was a free will donation collected. At the end of the day $701.90 was raised and donated to the Family Place in Weyburn.
