The water meters of Weyburn continue to be replaced with 21st-century technology that allows for more accurate recordings.

"People generally seem to be accepting the water meter replacement program quite well," told Laura Delanoy, assistant city engineer for the city of Weyburn. "We've gotten great feedback from our initial letter that was posted in the fall and quite a few people made appointments from that notice."

While they have tackled a number of water meters already, the job is still far from over.

"We have close to 4000 water meters that need to be replaced, and we're currently nearing the halfway point of the project," added Delanoy. "So, we have just a little over 1900 water meters replaced, currently."

For the project to run smoothly, they ask for a little help from the homeowners.

"They should ensure that their home water shut-off valve is working correctly," Delanoy said. "That's an essential part of having your water meter replaced. Homeowners can make arrangements through the city to have their water shut off at the curb, and the homeowner can make arrangements with the plumber to have their valve replaced."

The replacement doesn't take long and bookings can be made through Corix.
