With snowmelt runoff nearing completion in most of the southern half of Saskatchewa, it is expected the rest of the province will experience below-normal spring runoff. This is according to the updated spring runoff report that has been issued by the Water Security Agency.

The news of minimal risk of flooding and runoff comes as a relief to many in the province who are already dealing with enough issues around the COVID-19 pandemic, one less thing to worry about.

At this time, due to a mild winter, there are no areas in the province that the Water Security Agency predicts will experience above normal flooding situations. However heavy rains or a rapid melt could result in a higher runoff.

The Water Security Agency has begun its normal spring operations of monitoring water basins and operating its dam systems to bring lake levels under its controls up to their normal operating levels.
