The Weybex Awards are coming up soon. Held by the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce every two years, the event celebrates the best of business in the community.

The nomination process is now open, and Twila Walkenden, the manager of the Chamber, says it is pretty wide-ranging who is eligible for the various awards.

“Anybody can nominate any business,” she explained. “You do not have to be on the Chamber board, you do not have to be a chamber member, and the businesses you nominate do not have to be chamber businesses; it can be any business in the community.”

The nominations need to be submitted for the various categories by April 11th.

The categories for the awards are the Business Leader of the year, sponsored by PAR Contracting; Community Involvement sponsored by SaskEnergy; Golden Service Award sponsored by MNP; New and/or Expanded Business sponsored by Community Futures Sunrise and the Business Hall of Fame sponsored by Weyburn Credit Union.

The winners of the categories then comprise the nominees for the Business of the Year award, which is sponsored by Prairie Sky Co-op.

The awards gala itself will be held on May 11th this year.
