The Talent is an independent film made in Saskatchewan with a Weyburn Actor starring in one of the main roles.

"Its been written and directed by Lucas Frison as well as written by Elias England. Its a comedy starring Natalie Lazarou playing the role of Kaylee and Kaylee is a super hockey fan but she's not very good at it," explained Weyburn's Bernadette Mullen-Green, Actor, The Talent.

"She has a strong relationship with her Art teacher Miss Dash and I play the role of Miss Dash. Miss Dash is frustrated as she is trying to get funding for the Arts. Kaylee comes up with the idea to fundraise for the Arts by having an indoor floor hockey game."

Mullen who auditioned three times for the role explained how the film was shot in July of this year in Regina. The movie was supported by Telefilm Canada and Creative Saskatchewan.

With the movie based on a world record-breaking fundraising floor hockey game, the production crew took the opportunity to actually attempt to break the world record.

"While we shot Talent they also had a world record floor hockey game. They had to play floor hockey for 70 hours straight. 60 hours was the record and they played for 70, so they broke that record while we shot the film," explained Mullen.

Footage from the record-breaking game makes it into the movie.

Mullen, being in front of the camera did not play in the game.

"They had to stay awake the whole time, I believe they went in four-hour shifts. They played for four hours. They got a five-minute break at every hour mark," said Mullen.

"Then another shift came in for four hours, they weren't allowed to leave the gym except for a five-minute break."

Talent recently won the Best Feature Film at the Saskatchewan Independent Film Awards in November.

"Talent will be having a small theatrical release in February in Saskatoon and Regina."

The dates have yet to be confirmed.

Mullen adds that the trailer for Talent was released earlier this week and is available to watch online.

Mullen is in another movie which is currently in post-production where she plays a punk rocker.

There are some other projects coming up she is starring in but she cannot give details yet.
