Last week saw the provincial government releasing their Prairie Resilience: A Made-In-Saskatchewan Climate Change Strategy. The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce is applauding the government's efforts in addressing climate change.

"The Weyburn Chamber is really hopeful that the Federal Government does consider this new plan as a comprehensive and resourceful way to really affectively address the climate change policy," says Twila Walkeden, Executive Director with the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce.

The strategy, released from Enviroment Minister Dustin Duncan, is aiming to focus on readiness and resilience in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

"We've already implimented a lot of investment in innovation that is really making a mark in reducing carbon emissions, we just want to build on that," says Walkeden. "We want to make sure that communities and businesses are working with industry to reduce emissions here in Saskatchewan."

Saskatchewan is unqiue and the strategy will help the province battle climate change on a number of levels. The hope is that Saskatchewan can show change and avoid the federally suggested carbon tax.
