The Weyburn Credit Union celebrated 75 years on Friday with an all-day birthday party.

"We served cupcakes all day and we actually gave away a travel voucher for $750," said VP of Marketing Tana Torkelson. "So we had 75 gifts to celebrate 75 years, so whoever came down and got a gift bag got their name entered and the winner was Nancy Knouse."

The 75 gifts were beautiful, high-quality Borosilicate glass water bottles.

"We did different things all year round," she shared. "Envision was actually our corporate partner for the year, so we did lots with them."

Envision Counselling and Support Centre, in fact, celebrated 25 years of service in the southeast in 2019.

"We had the big community barbecue and we had tons of people out for that and presented our community fund grants, so that was awesome," Torkelson noted.

"We've really just done different surprises and different things all year long, so this was just kind of the grand finale," she added.

"The biggest thing for us was this was just a way for us to thank the community for 75 great years," Torkelson concluded. "75 years of making lives better, brighter and stronger."

75 years ago the Weyburn Credit Union was operated out of a shoebox in the CO-OP, and for their birthday they have decided to share some shoeboxes filled with needed items for Envision Counseling, including gift cards, swim passes, and other items to help people out during this time of year.

Of course, it's not a celebration without balloons!
