Police, Fire and EMS services are vital for any community for protection and unity. This past Saturday saw the Emergency Services Gala honouring those hard-working emergency responders.

"I've had experience with all three services and I can attest to the swiftness and professionalism that our police, our fire and our ems services exhibit, but most importantly I can attest to the compassion in which they render their services," says Dustin Duncan MLA Weyburn-Big Muddy.

Weyburn Fire Chief Simon Almond and Weyburn Police Chief Marlo Pritchard say they couldn't do their job without the support of the community. That the emergency services all work together to serve and protect Weyburn.

The Weyburn City Council shared support for the police, fire and EMS services and extended appreciation for all they do. Before Marcel Roy was Mayor of Weyburn he served as a constable with the Weyburn Police Service and he shared some of the Principles of Policing, known as P.O.'s Principles.

"Principle number 2 though was the ability of the police to perform their duties is dependent upon public approval of police actions, and principle number 9 has always been a very important one, the test of policing efficiency is an absence of crime and disorder not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it," says Mayor Marcel Roy.

This year marked 60 years of service from the Weyburn Police Service. Besides the communities support the Weyburn emergency services support each other as well.
