It's no big secret that Weyburn was named the fifth best place to live in Canada.

Moneysense Magazine gave Weyburn this prestigious title based on the affordability of homes, the robust economy and the high wealth/incomes of the residents.

"I like the aspect of safety and security," said Twila Walkeden, Executive Director for the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce. "Our local city police and RCMP do a very good job of keeping our community a very safe place to live and work and I like the fact that we do have a low unemployment rate and low housing costs. Those are the things that really played a part in rating us so high within Canada."

During the summer there are numerous outdoor activites and events to be a part of in Weyburn. Despite the cold weather in the winter, there are still many events that take place. Weyburnites in general are not too afraid of freezing temperatures.

Whether you're looking for exercise, entertainment or relaxation, Weyburn has something for people of all ages and walks of life to enjoy.

"The people of Weyburn, they just really rally around one another," said Jennifer Lorinczy, Community Ministries Coordinator for the Weyburn Salvation Army. "They come together, their so supportive of everything that happens in Weyburn. They just really step up to the plate whenever it is needed. Whether it's doing a food drive for the food bank or just helping anything local, their just very supportive."

"You know we always joke that Moneysense Magazine mentioned the fact that we didn't have a Starbucks in our community rated us a little lower," said Walkeden. "So in the past 12 months we've been lucky enough to have a new Starbucks established in our Pharmasave. So that's kind of neat as well."
